Newspaper accounts and other items mostly about saving his 74 gun ship of the line the Waterloo in 1827. He was named "ridders van den Nederlandschen Leeuw" which means "knight of the Dutch Lion", the highest civilian honor he could receive. It was a civilian honor because he was not in battle.
